A GOOD KAWS
On Emmys Eve, while I was having dress drama in Beverly Hills, my trusty StyleSpy sidekick (that would be my husband Brant) was hanging with the hipsters in Williamsburg, Brooklyn at a joint called Saved Tattoo on Hope Street. He was there because my favorite street artist KAWS was co-hosting a group exhibition. I already own several rare KAWS character figures (like the kind you find at KidRobot or on the KAWS website if you're lucky). In fact, Brant's date for the evening was my vinyl KAWS Bearbrick toy from 2002. Truth be told, I have been obsessed with meeting the man himself and having him personally sign one of his creations. And, on this night, one of those dreams came true. CHECK IT OUT!

CUSTOMIZED (!!!) BACK:
In addition to the dedication and autograph, he drew a cute little face on the back of my Bearbrick's head.
My sleuthy husband also learned that KAWS used to live on the Lower East Side in Manhattan (where -- scandal! -- many of his original building tags have since been painted over), but he just so happened to have lived IN THE SAME BUILDING WE LIVED IN. He even lived on the same floor. We missed him by about a year. For those of you thinking "big deal," imagine learning that you almost neighbored Andy Warhol or Jeff Koons or Picasso.
LEARN MORE ABOUT KAWS AND READ HIS BLOG (it's smart and charming) http://blog.honeyee.com/kaws/
p.s.
I am currently lusting after the limited edition Original Fake x Nexus7 400% Bearbrick that debuted in May and sold out within hours of its release, despite its $500 price tag. It has since been listed on Ebay for up to $1000.
And finally, just beKAWS (har har): here's a snap of the new KAWS 4-FOOT COMPANION (first posted by KAWS on his blog). I have a 12" pink version (with bunny ears) in my office who I think needs a new friend...
