Brad's latest gift to Angie: Guns or Roses?

According to a recent interview with Angelina Jolie in Entertainment Weekly, her beau Brad is not only difficult to shop for, but he also gives good gift.

Jolie tells EW:

''Mad, our 6-year-old, draws lots of war scenarios. He's all into war and guns. So for Mother's Day he drew a machine gun, and Brad had it made into a necklace, which is really sweet. It's really cute. I think it's really good!''

Son of A Gun: Angelina Jolie shows off her Maddox's artwork in Entertainment Weekly

Encouraging a child to draw war scenarios and immortalizing one of his creations in the form of jewelry is not exactly what one might expect from the soon-to-be mom of six and UN Goodwill Ambassador, but then again when has Jolie ever been predictable, much less conventional?

This is the same woman made infamous for incestuous kisses and wearing a vial (vile!) of Billy Bob Thornton's blood around her neck.  Jolie has also admitted to collecting knives since she was a kid.  Not to mention, the sexy screen siren is almost always fully-loaded in her films.

Seriously, who else could rock a closet full of St. John suits alongside a kickin' collection of Banksy artwork?

The same woman who can pull off both sensible Cole Haan shoes and a Thomas Wylde dress on the red carpet at Cannes.

What do you think about golden guns as gifts?  Sweet or scary?  Weird or warm and fuzzy?  Is this a cute case of boys will be boys, or should parents institute their own brand of gun control?

This reminds me of the US constitution giving its citizens "the right to bear arms." However in this case, IT IS THE RIGHT TO "WEAR" ARMS.

It is the intent behind the charm that dictates my interpretation.

A child's drawing for Mommy is an act of love.
In a parent's eyes that drawing is a work of art.

It was an act of love that Daddy Brad translated this artistic drawing of his 6-year-old into a charm. It is an act of love for Mommy Jolie to wear it and value the intent of her son and her man.

This is definitely a gift with a bang. While I am quite sure that Maddox will be brought up to be a peacekeeper, I'm a little unsure as to how he interprets transforming a drawing of a gun into adornment. Something worn around the neck with an aggressive interpretation, that a mom would cherish (as opposed to something a little more innocuous, like a flower or dog or cat charm) could easily be misunderstood by a young child. Hopefully Jolie and Pitt have explained the significance of this necklace to them and him, and he understands that it's meaning is not in the object itself as much as it is an expression of the creativity (and innocent exuberance) of the little guy who designed it. Perhaps a bedtime story about those who are famous for the art of negotiation and diplomacy might offer him a balanced perspective.

I applaud Angie for her acceptance of her son's and husband's gift. The politically correct climate has intimidated the dialog of what is right. The USA has proven to be the most freedom loving country, as boys grew up with guns and war games as part of their lives.
I am so happy that you showed us that Brad and Angie are ignoring the current politically correct diatribe. Bravo!
