Style Star: Michelle Obama in Thakoon at DNC Finale

Michelle Obama upped her burgeoning style star status last night in Denver, where she chose to wear an on-trend, yet appropriate art-print dress from It-designer Thakoon Panichgul (Kate Bosworth is a fan).

Panichgul, of course, is pleased: “I am incredibly honored that Michelle Obama chose to wear a dress from my collection on such a historical night for her, her family and this country.”

SIDE NOTE:

While the presidential race heats up, so does the race for most-fashionable- woman-to-potentially-land-in-the-White-House.  According to a recent CNN update, John McCain has officially chosen the "Hottest Governor in America," Sarah Palin of Alaska, as his running mate.  Game on!

Madeline,

If you want socialism or marxism, vote Obama

If you want the people who tried to reach the
American Dream to pay your way in life, than
vote Obama

If White America wants to ride in the back of the
bus someday...than vote Obama

This is a bit off topic but hear me out. Current pregnancy and gustav hub-bub aside, given the very well orchestrated show that the was put on in denver, it will be interesting to see how the republicans play their new VPs style card. Since Michelle definitely left her mark with style, its going to be hard for Palin to be introduced and confirmed as the running mate (or as has been so popular to say lately--a heartbeat from the president)and also gain the upperhand from a fashion point of view without diluting her message as a strong political candidate that is more concerned with issues and less with being a style maven. So will she play it safe or try to leave a mark? what do the spys say?

I don't know if you had the time to see Cindy McCain at the opening of the Republican Convention this Labor Day evening. She looked fantastic! If you can see the copy, please let your readers know who she was wearing.

i don't think michelle's contrived at all. but then again, many who are into politics & the such will be somewhat "artificially formal". i love michelle tho...she's classy, elegant, beautiful, and intelligent! =)

Concerning Sarah Palin. As we get to know her, her inner beauty will transend any fashion faux pas. That won't be the case for the contrived Michelle.

Sarah Palin will in no way be a contender in that category. As the preceding comment above mine details, her style (or lack their of) shines a light on a person still trying to hold on to her Alaska PAGEANT Queen years while getting older every minute. Her love affair with lip liner and sky high buns ad just wonderfully to the equation. So in this department (and pretty much every other department) Michelle Obama trumps Mrs.Palin.. painfully, and with an incredible sense of style and inner poise.

Sarah Palin will not be a competitor in fashionable yet appropriately dressed women in the campaign. The bun, glasses and dangle earrings are just a bit of a clue about her personal style.
