Spied: Clay Aiken With Chef Boyardee

What does Clay Aiken do on a Wednesday night?  Spamalot pub crawls?  American Idol reunion parties?  Nope.

Clay Aiken

Apparently, he goes grocery shopping...just like me.
(With his bodyguard...not just like me.)

That's right -- I ran into Clay last night at my local market.  The singing sensation -- and recent People cover boy -- was filling his basket with bananas and Chef Boyardee ravioli.  I asked him about his self-professed favorite (Breyers peach ice-cream), and he laughed and said, "I didn't get any.  I'm getting fat!"

Always friendly and always down-to-Earth, Aiken perused the store wearing jeans, an argyle sweater and sandals with socks.

Personal style is always best when spied in unexpected places.

Check this out!  A picture from that very night (bodyguard on left) provided by a STYLE SPY reader.  THANKS XOC!!!

Nice to read your sweet comments about Clay. I'm a long time fan, and everything I read about him suggests he's a real nice guy. How cute that he wears mismatched stripey socks. I'm glad to see oddball fashion being practiced by a celebrity. :)

Katrina! Ya' done good! Much better picture, and in case I sounded whiney with my other comment, Thank You for the cute blurb about Clay.

If those socks matched they had to be a new pair. lol

Thanks for details of the "sighting." Love Clay and his quirky style!

Thanks for this little glimpse into Clay's everyday life.(Though, I remember early in his career, he "complained" that he couldn't go to the store without someone posting what kind of milk he was buying! I think he's used to it by now.)

I love Chef-Boy-Ardee!! Clay and I have a con.nec.tion.

Love that he is so down-to-earth and "normal."

Don't ya love a man that can be unique and not care about what others think. I love his quirky style and personality!

Clay has freed me to wear mismatched socks! I love it.

"bisoxual"............great play on words, Justme!

Nice try! I shall never tell. A man deserves his privacy, especially after being called out on his penchant for Chef Boyardee. : )

So where is this market you shop in?? LOL

Posted by: Tink | October 10, 2008

You are right about that, KATRINA/STYLE SPY. Clay is definitely down to earth and not about putting on airs. I love him.

WOW! I love the responses from all of Clay's adoring fans. He is a sweetheart. However, a few things:

1. Don't read into the picture selection! Sometimes I don't have access to the image I would like (due to a little issue called photo rights), so I have to use an image that I already have. That's why I included a link to an entire gallery of Clay pictures.

2. YES...his socks were striped, and the last time I sat down to interview Clay they were striped AND mismatched. cute quirk.

3. Better Chef Boyardee instead of Chef Boyardee AND Breyers. I think it's cool that Clay sticks to basics when he certainly could have a personal chef. I personally love Spagettios.

Knowing Clay the sox were probably striped and mismatched. ( He's bisoxual ya know ) ;-)

IT'S THE STORY-LINE, Responders!.......letting us know that Clay is kindly accessible and that stars do just what we all do.........SHOP FOR GROCERIES!

The choice of the photo is INSIGNIFICANT!

They have no personal chefs in NYC? Clay Chef Boyardee will get you as fat as peach ice cream.

That's just so very Clay Aiken. Gotta love him.

So many of those papparazi pictures are taken by some guy standing on a milk crate. It distorts the subject by making them look top heavy and short. The lighting usually sucks too. This picture makes the usually pale Clay look like his face is bright red.

It makes you wonder why the editors always go for the unflattering pictures when there are thousands of them to choose from that are more accurate. Is it some sort of passive aggressive thing?

With all of the great pictures of Clay out in cyberspace, why does every magazine use that awful picture? He is lookin' so fine during the Spamalot run, even if he does were socks with sandals!

Posted by: tnmtmama | October 09, 2008

How about using a picture from that night instead of one that is 2 years old?
